NASA Crew-13 briefing keeps Cape Canaveral launch target in mid-September

NASA and partner agencies briefed the public on Aug. 3 about Crew-13, which remained targeted to launch from Cape Canaveral no earlier than mid-September.

NASA and its international partners held technical and crew briefings on Aug. 3 for SpaceX Crew-13, the next long-duration mission to the International Space Station.

Florida launch site remains part of the plan

NASA said the four-person mission was targeted to launch no earlier than mid-September aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9 and Dragon from Space Launch Complex 40 at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station. The Aug. 3 briefing was held before the flight; it did not represent a launch.

The crew named for the mission includes NASA astronauts Jessica Watkins and Luke Delaney, Canadian Space Agency astronaut Joshua Kutryk and Roscosmos cosmonaut Sergey Teteriatnikov. Canada’s space agency also announced a live broadcast of the Aug. 3 technical briefing and crew news conference.

What is next

NASA’s mission information describes Crew-13 as a long-duration science expedition to the station. The agency’s stated launch timing remained no earlier than mid-September, subject to readiness and mission planning.
