NASA Briefs Media on Roman Telescope’s Kennedy Space Center Launch

NASA’s July 29 briefing outlined the Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope mission, then targeted for an Aug. 30 launch from Kennedy Space Center.

NASA held a media briefing on July 29, 2026, to preview the Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope mission, which at the time was targeted to launch from Kennedy Space Center in Florida on Aug. 30.

The briefing was scheduled for 2 p.m. EDT and included mission leaders from NASA Headquarters and Goddard Space Flight Center. NASA said the session would cover the mission and its status.

What Roman is designed to study

Roman is a space telescope built for wide-field infrared surveys. NASA says its field of view will be at least 100 times larger than Hubble’s, enabling broad observations intended to advance research on dark energy, exoplanets and other astrophysics questions.

NASA identifies Kennedy Space Center as the planned Florida launch site. The agency’s mission page listed a Falcon Heavy launch from Launch Complex 39A as the target plan when this coverage was verified.
