*Coyote vs. Acme* finally got released after Warner Bros. tried to shelve the project for a $30 million tax write-off. It is exactly as I expected it to be: Funny, action-packed, emotional, and self-aware. The blend of live-action and animation is really cool because the real humans use animated props in the same vein as *Who Framed Roger Rabbit*, but the reason it feels more believable here is because instead of puppeteering the animated props, the human actors hold stand-ins that get replaced in post-production...

Coyote vs. Acme is a genuinely fun surprise. The gimmick — Wile E. Coyote suing Acme Corp for decades of faulty products, staged as a courtroom dramedy — could've been a one-joke premise, but it earns its laughs by taking the legal-thriller framing semi-seriously. John Cena is a good sport as the smarmy corporate lawyer, and the blend of live action with classic Looney Tunes-style animation is charming without leaning too hard on nostalgia. It sags a bit in the middle once the courtroom stuff settles into formula,...

The Acme Corporation has finally met an adversary it can’t flatten with an anvil: a courtroom, and the result is an unexpectedly charming Looney Tunes comedy in *Coyote vs. Acme*. The premise is inspired: after yet another Acme product goes spectacularly wrong, Wile E. Coyote takes the company to court with the help of a down-on-his-luck lawyer. It is exactly the kind of ridiculous escalation that feels appropriate for a character who has spent decades ordering increasingly elaborate devices to catch one very fast...

You won’t often see me review animated films. That’s because I remember what cartoons were like when I was growing up as a Baby Boomer, and I loved them (especially Looney Tunes). In fact, in my view, most of today’s headache-inducing animation is overly manic and overly silly, releases that pale in comparison to those classic old school offerings. For those who agree with me, however, there’s a new release out there that serves as a fitting homage to those works of days gone by that pays a fitting tribute to them...

I read an article inspired by this movie. It said top 10 anti-capitalist films like this movie. It included They Live. This movie is about a comically evil corporation headed by my favourite John Cena. John Cena is cool. Will Forte is cool. Jubilee from X-Men Apocalypse is cool. Who Framed Roger Rabbit is cool. This movie is pretty neat. It's not anti-capitalist. It should not be inspiring a list that includes They Live. It could inspire a list that is movies that do the Who Framed Roger Rabbit effects well. #1. W...

Come to think of it, I'm surprised that in the super-litigious US of A it took almost a century for anyone to cotton that "ACME" products were rubbish! Well now "Wile E. Coyote" has had his fill of things blowing up in his face and decided to employ lawyer "Avery" (Will Forte) to take on the mighty "Foghorn Leghorn" and his legal eagle "Buddy" (John Cena) in a courtroom battle. The coyote can't speak; they can't catch the "Road Runner" to act as a witness to his calamities and the thrust of their defence seems to...
